CONCEPTS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE <br /> HAPPY VALLEY MUNICIPAL PUBLIC GOLF COURSE <br /> <br />OVERVIEW <br /> <br />A project designed and implemented so as to add a distinctive addition to the City's <br />resources developed to enhance the environment and the quality of life in fie <br />COffliTlUnjty. <br /> <br />ESSENTIAL FEATURES <br /> <br />Designed so that the golfers spanning the whole spectrum of abilities can have an <br />interesting challenge and a quality experience playing the course. <br /> <br />That experience to include bang able comfortably to walk the course and enjoy a <br />sensible pace of play. <br /> <br />A design that maiizes the aesthetic potential of the site, recognizing how vital a part <br />aesthetics play in the provision of a quality experience. <br /> <br />ENHANCING THE ENVIRONMENT <br /> <br />The City of Pleasanton has a value system which puts a high priority on not just <br />preserving but enhancing the environmere. The project therefore should not just <br />satisfy all environmental requirements, but aleo enhance the environment, for <br />example, by coordinating with the Audubon Sodsty, following the 'Environmental <br />Principles for Gdf Courses in the United States developed through a collaborative <br />research and dialogue process managed and facilitated by the Cemer for Resoume <br />Management. <br /> <br />MORE SPECIFIC DESIGN CRITEREA <br /> <br />Four sets of tees on each hole. <br /> <br />Total yardage ranging from approxirrrately 5,500 yards from the forward tees to <br />approximately 7,000 yards from the back tees. <br /> <br />A 72 par course with 36 par for each nine, providing that such par and balance can <br />be achieved consistent with realizing the required above refemncecl characteristics <br />and quality. <br /> <br />Such par to be realized from 4 par 3's, 4 par 5's, and 10 par 4's, provide that such <br />configuration can be realized consistent with the above referenced characteristics <br />and quality. <br /> <br /> <br />
