Brenda Patrick, 5044 Carducci Drive, spoke in opposition to this item and expressed <br />concern about the small. front lawn which would become very crowded with 14 children. <br />She noted that the playground and pool were private and part of the HOA's common <br />grounds. She inquired whether there was a limit to the insurance rates to be set by the <br />I I OA. <br />Ms. Nerland noted that the liability insurance limit appeared to be set $300,000_ <br />Leanea Li, 5285 Genovesio Drive, spoke in opposition to this item and expressed concern <br />that other large daycare applications that are being prepared within this 300-foot radius <br />would not be able to be considered. She expressed. concern about reckless drivers and <br />that the daycare parents may not drive in a safe manner for the neighborhood. <br />Commissioner Roberts noted that they must be 300 feet away and that applications are <br />examined on a t3rst-come, first-served basis. <br />h-nelda Doty, 5073 Rigatti Circle, spoke in opposition to this item and noted that when <br />she bought her home, she was not aware that there would be a business in this <br />development. She expressed concern about the blind curve and drivers who drove too <br />fast and was very concerned about the safety of her children and other neighborhood <br />children. <br />In response to an inquiry by Chairperson Maas whether she had contacted the City with <br />respect to the speeding problem, Ms_ Doty noted that she had not, but the development <br />had a security guard. She noted that the parking report did not state what time of day the <br />conditions were observed. <br />Deepak Malhotra, 5261 Genovesio Drive, spoke in opposition to this item. He expressed <br />concern about the safety of his children near the streets and that the parents would make <br />U-turns and use other people's driveways to turn around. <br />Maria Latsis, 5045 Carducci Drive, spoke in opposition to this item and noted that the <br />blind corner made parking very dift3cult_ She noted that there was a mix of ages of the <br />children and that when she had been on the HOA board, they had investigated several <br />traffic calming measures which were not impleniented_ <br />Commissioner Fox inquired whether the Trafl3c Department could place a lighted speed <br />limit sign in the neighborhood that would flash when the speed limit was exceeded. <br />Ms. Nerland noted that a private street such as this did not fall within the jurisdiction of <br />the Public Works Department. <br />Jagath Kadurugamuwa, 521 O Genovesio Drive, spoke in opposition to this item and <br />agreed with the stateirients made by the other speakers.
