ROLL CALL VOTE= <br />AYES= Commissioners Arkin, Blank, Fox, Maas and Pearce_ <br />NOES: None. <br />ABSTAIN: Nonc_ <br />RECUSED: None. <br />ABSENT= Commissioner Roberts. <br />Resolution No. PC-2005-27 was entered and adopted as motioned- <br />c_ PAP-78_ Charles Meier- Annellant (PADR-1235_ .Ieffrev and Cindv Truel <br />Appeal of the Zoning Administrator's approval of an. administrative design review to <br />construct approximately 91 O square feet of first- and second-floor additions to an cxisting <br />residence located at 6592 Arlington Drive- Zoning for the property is R-1-6,500 <br />Single-Family Residential District <br />Because Ms. Decker also served as the Zoning Administrator for this project, Ms. Leslie <br />Mendez, Assistant Planner, summarized this staff report and detailed the history of this item. <br />The project meets all required setbacks, height, and open space requirements, and the <br />second-story addition maintains approximately 60 feet between the neighboring rear fagade <br />walls. At 29 percent, the proposed FAR was acceptably low. Staff recommends that the <br />Commission deny appeal PAP-78, and uphold the Zoning Administrator's approval PADR-1235. <br />In response to an inquiry by Commissioner Fox whether there had been second-story additions in <br />the area, Ms. Mendez confirmed there was one adj accent to this cxisting home. <br />Chairperson Maas recalled seeing several other second-story additions. <br />Commissioner Blar~k noted that he had driven around the neighborhood aced inquired whether <br />staff had drawn an illustration of the proposed second story- Ms. Mendez replied that the <br />appellant had done so_ <br />THE PUBLIC HEARING WAS OPENED. <br />Charles Meier, appellant, 6597 Lansing Court, noted that his home was directly behind <br />Mr_ True's property- He did not object to the first-floor addition but would like the Commission <br />to deny the 642-square-Foot second-story addition- He noted that there was only one <br />second-story home with a backyard neighbor on Hanover Court. He believed the proposed <br />addition. would block their view of the Sunol Ridge- He noted that 40 Rose Point residents <br />s ubmiiicd a peii iion. opposing this addition and requesting that all Rose Point residents be <br />notified of any future requests for second-story additions. He noted that the views from the <br />proposed second-story addition and balcony imposed on their master ~md guest bedrooms, <br />forcing them to install window and door shades.
