<br />'" <br /> <br /> <br />6D <br /> <br />'- <br /> <br />pLfASANTONo <br /> <br />City Council <br />Staff Report <br /> <br />March 7, 2006 <br />Library Director <br />Assistant City Manager <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br /> <br />AUTHORIZATION TO ISSUE A REQUEST FOR <br />QUALIFICATIONS (RFQ) TO CONDUCT A STRUCTURAL <br />FEASIBILITY ANALYSIS FOR EXPANDING THE <br />PLEASANTON LIBRARY BUILDING <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Authorize issuance of an RFQ to prepare a library expansion feasibility <br />study, <br /> <br />SUMMARY <br /> <br />This report provides an overview of the Pleasanton Public Library Space <br />Needs Assessment study completed in December 2004 and requests <br />authorization to conduct a library expansion feasibility study <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council: <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />In June 2001, the City Council approved an agreement with Group 4 Architecture Research + <br />Planning, Inc" to prepare a Civic Center Site Master Plan for the approximately I3-acre <br />civic center site including the 3,3-acre site located adjacent to Old Bernal that is currently <br />owned by the City and County of San Francisco, <br /> <br />The project included an analysis of traffic circulation, parking needs (including the potential <br />for a parking structure if necessary), safe and comfortable pedestrian pathways between City <br />facilities as well as to Main Street, a space needs analysis and estimated budget for a new <br />city hall office building, reservation of space for an expansion of the Pleasanton Library and <br />a recommendation regarding the retention or removal of the 123 Main Street and 200 Old <br />Bernal buildings, <br /> <br />SR:06:075 <br />Page I <br />
