Renovation ofthe Veteran's Memorial Building: This project will bring the facility up to
code and make necessary improvements to assure that it continues to meet the needs of local
veterans groups and the public. Bidding is currently in progress, with construction scheduled
to begin in May 2006. Estimated project cost is $4 million.

Bernal Community Park, Phase 1 Lighted Sports Fields: This project is approximately
l3-acres in overall size and includes the development of three (3) new baseball fields - two
(2) of which will be lighted. In addition, the project will develop a central plaza area
(between the fields), an entry roadway (with underground utilities for the project's full
buildout), a paved parking lot, lighted pathways, children's play areas, restroom and storage
buildings, and generous landscaped areas. The project is currently in design. Total estimated
project cost, including design and potential add/alternates, is $5.7 million.

Alviso Adobe Community Park: This project will develop a seven-acre community park
designed to provide opportunities for interpretation of three distinct periods of history,
including revealing or recreating artifacts and/or architecture on the site. Included will be
full restoration of the existing adobe (complete with period furnishings), lighted sidewalks, a
small amphitheater and group gathering space, gardens and interpretive signage. All project
design has been completed and bid specifications are being prepared. Total estimated project
cost, including design, is' $4.7 million. .

Kottinger Creek Restoration: This is a restoration project intended to replace the existing
straight grassy lined creek with a more natural creek. The approved concept plans for
Kottinger Creek provide for an 8-foot wide low flow channel that meanders through a
floodplain varying in width from 27 to 46 feet. The project will remove invasive species
along the park and creek corridor. In an effort to preserve the existing trees, nine trees
within the creek will be transplanted and only ten trees will need to be removed. Over 130
new trees will be replanted, along with approximately 500 new shrubbery plantings and
groundcover. Three existing culvert crossings are planned to be replaced with bridges,
dependent on costs and available budget. Staff intends to forward the final design to the City
Council in the near future for approval. Total estimated project cost, based on the current
design, is $1.4 million. This budget may be reduced by reducing the number of bridges
included in the projec and the City Council will have an opportunity to determine the depth
and scope of the project when plans and specifications are presented for consideration. Total
estimated project cost, including design, is $1.4 million.

Firehouse Arts Center: This project anticipates reusing the former City fire station located
at 4444 Railroad Avenue as an arts center. While this project is currently under design,
proposed amenities include a small theater (240 seats) to support youth and family theater,
small dramatic productions, chamber music, lectures and other culturally related events; an
art gallery that could support local artists and works produced by regionally and nationally
known artists; classrooms which could be dedicated to arts related activities and workshops,
and related supporting facilities such as a lobby, box office, restrooms, storage and
maintenance areas, dressing rooms, and staff offices. The project may be phased,
SR:06:077
Page 2
