This report provides a summary of the recommended
agreement.

Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council:

BACKGROUND

During 2004 and 2005, City staff worked with Frank Auf der Maur exploring affordable housing
options for his 2.76-acre vacant parcel of land on the corner of Vineyard Avenue and Birch
Creek Court. Staff's work was in response to an interest of some residents to use this site for a
City sponsored/funded high-density affordable housing project for seniors, The result of this
work was presented to the Housing Commission at its meeting of February 17, 2005. After
reviewing all options, the Commission recommended that the property owner work directly with
a private developer to secure affordable units on the property in accordance with the
Inclusionary Zoning Ordinance (IZO). The Commission's recommendation was reviewed and
approved by the City Council on AprilS, 2005.

SR 06:078
