<br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />pLfASANTON. <br /> <br />City Council-Planning Commission <br />General Plan Joint Workshop <br /> <br />March I, 2006 <br />Planning Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />GENERAL PLAN LAND USE ELEMENT WORKSHOP #6: Properties <br />in the West Side of Pleasant on and other areas <br /> <br />PURPOSE: <br /> <br />To provide land use information to the City Council and Planning <br />Commission, and, following the workshop discussion, for the City Council to <br />provide feedback regarding preferred land use, regulations to be considered for <br />hillside development, and the range of options to be considered at Workshop <br />#7. <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Receive staff presentation; following the workshop, provide feedback <br />regarding preferred land uses and potential regulations for several properties on <br />the West Side and other areas of Pleasanton, and provide feedback regarding <br />land use options. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: This staff report describes several properties in the Foothill Road area, as well <br />as property adjacent to the planned West DublinlPleasanton BART station, a <br />parcel located at Foothill Road and Stoneridge Drive, a parcel at the end of <br />Valley Trails, and a parcel on Santa Rita Road. These properties are being <br />discussed because of issues related to hillside development or because of <br />requests from property owners for consideration of an amendment to the <br />General Plan land use designation. <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and Members ofthe City Council: <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />On September 27'\ 2005, the City Council and Planning Commission held the first in a series of <br />Joint Workshops discussing the General Plan Update Land Use Element. At that time, staff set <br />out a work plan for considering potential land uses on 52 potential "land use change areas", and <br />described several city-wide land use issues for later discussion.
