<br /> <br />6A <br /> <br />pLfASANTONc <br /> <br />City Council <br />Staff Report <br /> <br />February 21,2006 <br />Parks and Community Services Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />REVIEW OF CURRENT STATUS AND <br />RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF <br />ADOBE COMMUNITY PARK, PROJECT NO. 987025 <br /> <br />FUNDING <br />AL VISO <br /> <br />PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />At its regular meeting of August 29, 2005, the Parks and Recreation <br />Commission recommended the following: <br /> <br />1. That the Alviso Adobe Community Park project be constructed as <br />designed, not using a phased approach; and <br /> <br />2. That the City Council consider the use of $543,000 in funding <br />currently allocated to other capital projects and use In-Lieu Park <br />Dedication fees to bridge the funding shortfall for construction <br />(approximately $1.7 million). <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />That the City Council review the current status of the subject project, <br />consider the Parks and Recreation Commission's recommendations, and <br />direct staff to return with an updated report in six (6) months detailing <br />progress in securing additional funds. <br /> <br />SUMMARY <br /> <br />Construction documents for Alviso Adobe Community Park are complete and the project is <br />ready for bid; however, at an estimated cost of approximately $4,022,000, the project has a <br />current funding shortfall of approximately $1.7 million. At the request of the City Council, the <br />Parks and Recreation Commission reviewed the project status and considered funding options <br /> <br />SR 06:062 <br />Page 1 <br />
