pL EASANTON@

February 7, 2006

Ashley Nguyen
MTC Staff Liaison
101 Eighth Street
Oakland, CA 94607

Dear Ms. Nguyen:

RE: Regional Rail Plan - Inclusion of the BART Extension to Livermore

This is in follow-up to the public workshop held in Livermore on December 5, 2005, at which
Livermore's Vice-mayor and a Pleasanton City Council member pointed out the merits of extending
BART to Livermore. The City of Pleasanton supports the inclusion of the extension of BART to
Livermore in the Regional Rail Plan.

Tri-valley residents, along with other residents of Alameda, Contra Costa and San Francisco Counties,
approved BART's initial plans to include a core system of 33 stations to serve 17 communities in the
three counties; a Livermore station was one of the 33 envisioned. The City of Pleasanton supports the
retention of the Livermore BART station as originally proposed and supported by voters.

We believe that the retention of the Livermore BART Station in the Regional Rail Plan is consistent
with the Plan's stated goals of expanding the regional rapid transit network, improving connections to
other trains and transit, and increasing rail capacity and rail investment around transit-friendly
communities and businesses.

Thank you for your consideration of this matter.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Hosterman
Mayor, City of Pleasant on

c: Councilmembers
City Manager

PUBLIC WORKS

Administration
200 Old Bernal Ave.
(925) 931-5648
Fax: 931-5479

Engineering
200 Old Bernal Ave.
(925) 931-5650
Fax: 931-5479

Traffic
200 Old Bernal Ave.
(925) 931-5650
Fax: 931-5479

P.O.
