<br />r <br /> <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />- . <br /> <br />pLEA8ANTONo <br /> <br />City Council-Planning Commission <br />General Plan Joint Workshop <br /> <br />January 24, 2006 <br />Planning Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />GENERAL PLAN LAND USE ELEMENT WORKSHOP #5: East Side <br />Properties <br /> <br />PURPOSE: <br /> <br />To provide land use information to the City Council and Planning <br />Commission, and, following the workshop discussion, for the City Council to <br />direct staff regarding preferred land use. <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Receive staff presentation; following the workshop, direct staff regarding <br />preferred land uses for several properties on the East Side of Pleasant on. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: This Staff Report describes several properties in the vicinity of Busch Road <br />and EI Charro Road, north of Stanley Boulevard on the east side of Pleasanton. <br />This area includes property owned by Kiewit Corporation, Hanson Aggregates, <br />and Pleasanton Garbage Service. These properties are currently designated <br />General and Limited Industrial, Parks and Recreation, and Sand and Gravel <br />Harvesting. Options for future land use designation for these properties would <br />eliminate the Sand and Gravel Harvesting designation, since mining of these <br />properties has terminated, and would include Retail/Highway/Service <br />Commercial, Business and Professional Offices, Business Park, and would re- <br />arrange the location of General and Limited Industrial and Parks and <br />Recreation designations. <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council: <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />On September 27th, 2005, the City Council and Planning Commission held the first in a series of <br />Joint Workshops discussing the General Plan Update Land Use Element. At that time, staff set <br />out a work plan for considering potential land uses on 52 potential "land use change areas", and <br />described several city-wide land use issues for later discussion.
