Resolution No. 97-01 <br />Page Two <br /> <br />the City of Pleasanton intends to utilize the Pleasanton Veterans Memorial <br />Building for a variety of uses including but not limited to recreational <br />activities, social events, meals program, City offices, and the holding of <br />meetings for various City of Pleasanton boards and commissions including <br />the Pleasanton Veterans Memorial Building Commission; and <br /> <br />the City of Pleasanton acknowledges the extreme bravery and valor <br />demonstrated by veterans in the service of their country and acknowledges <br />the great debt owed to veterans by the City of Pleasanton and the nation at <br />large; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the use of the Pleasanton Veterans Memorial Building by the City of <br />Pleasanton will not unduly interfere with the continued access to and <br />reasonable use of the building by veterans. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The City Manager is authorized to request Alameda County to transfer the <br /> Pleasanton Veterans Memorial Building and related site improvements and parcel <br /> of land located at 301 Main Street (APN No. 94-156-902) to the City of <br /> Pleasanton. <br /> <br />Section 2: The City Council of the City of Pleasanton hereby accepts the Veterans <br /> Memorial Building upon transfer of the facility and land from the County of <br /> Alameda and authorizes the City Manager to execute all documents necessary to <br /> affect the transfer. <br /> <br />Section 3: The City Council agrees and assures that upon the transfer of the Veterans <br /> Memorial Building and land to the City of Pleasanton, all rights granted to <br /> veterans under the California Military and Veterans Code for the continued access <br /> to and reasonable use of the Pleasanton Veterans Memorial Building shall be <br /> preserved. <br /> <br />Section 4: Nothing contained in this resolution shall be changed or modified absent a <br /> noticed public heating before the City Council. <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br /> <br />
