<br />Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council: <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />On March 15, 2005, the City Council aW'arded the construction contract for this project to <br />the 10W'est bidder, AJW Construction of Oakland, in the amount of $97,825. <br /> <br />This project consisted of the removal and replacement of damaged curb, gutter and <br />sideW'alk at Payne Road, Mason Street, and Bacon Court, to improve drainage and <br />pedestrian safety. <br /> <br />BUDGET <br /> <br />Funds <br />Annual SideW'alk Maintenance, CIP No. 045019 <br /> <br />TOTAL <br /> <br />$133,499.00 <br />$133,499.00 <br /> <br />Expenditures <br />Original Contract <br />Survey Services (expended) <br />Change Orders <br /> <br />TOTAL <br /> <br />$97,825.00 <br />$21,000.00 <br />$8,737.50 <br />$127,562.50 <br /> <br />Change orders were a result of additional unforeseen curb, gutter, driveW'ay and sideW'alk <br />replacement required to maintain smooth transitions and improve drainage and pedestrian <br />safety. The amount expended for change orders, $8,737.50, W'as less than the amount of <br />project contingency authorized by City Council W'hen the project W'as aW'arded ($14,674). <br />Staff recommends that the City Council authorize a final payment of the retention to AJW <br />Construction in the amount of $10,656.25.
