<br />5.2 The use of pervious paving for non-vehicular circulation systems should be maximized. <br />5.3 The slopes of trails and paths should not exceed five percent. <br />5.4 Signalized crosswalks should be provided at signalized intersections. <br />Transportation System Improvements Objective <br />TO OFFSET TRAFFIC IMPACTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE SPECIFIC PLAN'S <br />INCREMENTAL CONTRIBUTION OF TRAFFIC TO HIGHWAYS, STREETS, <br />INTERSECTIONS AND INTERCHANGES WHICH WILL REQUIRE CAPACITY <br />INCREASES AND/OR IMPROVEMENTS TO ACHIEVE ACCEPTABLE STANDARDS. <br />The Pleasanton General Plan includes standards for controlling traffic congestion at critical <br />intersections throughout the City. The Bernal Phase I and II Specific Plans incorporate <br />roadway and intersection improvements designed to achieve the City's General Plan standard of <br />no worse than Level of Service "D." These improvements include modifications to traffic <br />signals where fUture traffic volumes warrant change, provision of turning lanes for improved <br />intersection operation, and matching the density of land uses with the capacity of the roadway <br />network. <br />Transportation Improvement Policy 1: On-Site Intersections Level of Service. Traffic levels <br />of service at all internal intersections affected by development within the Planning Area shall not <br />exceed LOS "D" throughout the build-out of the Specific Plan. <br />Transportation Improvement Policy 2: Pleasanton Avenue Intersection Improvements. As <br />part of the overall improvements required for development of the Phase II Planning Area, <br />improvements as shown in this Specific Plan shall be made at the intersection of Pleasant on <br />Avenue and Bernal Avenue, designed to achieve a LOS "D" or better conditions at build-out of <br />the Pleasanton General Plan. <br /> Guidelines: <br />2.1 The Bernal A venue/Pleasanton A venue traffic signal should be modified and turning lane <br /> improvements should be constructed as shown in Figure 5-5. <br />2.2 The Bernal Avenue traffic signal interconnect conduit between the Oak Vista Way and <br /> Pleasanton Avenue signals should be completed. <br />Transportation Improvement Policy 3: Regional and Citywide Facilities.
