<br />The PTA Go Green Initiative program was originally developed by the Walnut Grove <br />Elementary PTA, and was piloted at four P1easanton school sites during the 2002-2003 school <br />year. Due to the success of the program, the California State PTA authorized the dissemination <br />of the program to PTA's statewide, and the Texas State PTA adopted the program in July 2003. <br />The Go Green Initiative is now supported in several school districts nationwide. <br />The Go Green Initiative has a proven track record for success in the Pleasanton schools. Staff is <br />recommending a Measure D grant in the amount of $40,000 for the 2005-06 school year. This <br />amount will be combined with a grant from the Pleasanton Unified School District to provide <br />funds to all sixteen Pleasanton schools. Go Green has an effective monitoring report system in <br />place and quarterly reports will continue to be submitted, as required by the City and state. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />The $40,000 grant is from the City's Measure D recycling funds.
