<br />13.08.145 Required Riding Equipment in In-line Skate Parks and Skateboard Parks. It is <br />unlawful for a person to ride a skateboard or a nonmotorized scooter. or to use in line skates.; in an in- <br />line skate park or allil skateboard park unless the person is wearing a helmet that meets the standards <br />specified in section 21212(a) oftbe California Vehicle Code, elbow pads and knee pads. all which shall <br />be properlv fitted and fastened. and where the skateboard park has a sign posted which proyides that <br />anyone in-line skating or riding a skateboard in the park must wear a helmet, elbow pads and knee pads <br />or be subject to a citation. <br />13.08.150 through 13.08.190, no changes. <br />13.08.200 Bicycles. <br />A. No person shall ride or operate a bicycle in any park and recreation facility in a negligent, unsafe <br /> or reckless manner or in any way that endangers the life, limb or property of any person. <br />B. It is unlawful for a person to ride a bicvcle in a bicycle motocross park unless the person is <br /> wearing a properly fitted and tastened helmet that meets the standards specitied in section <br /> 2l212(a) of the California Vehicle Code. <br />C. If a pathway or roadway is designated for bicycle use, a person shall use such pathway or <br /> roadway for such use. <br />13.08.205 through 13.08.210, no changes." <br />Section 2: A summary of this ordinance shall be published once within fifteen (15) days after its <br /> adoption in "The Valley Times," a newspaper of general circulation published in the City <br /> of Pleasanton, and the complete ordinance shall be posted for fifteen (15) days in the City <br /> Clerk's office within fifteen (15) days after its adoption. <br />Section 3: This ordinance shall be an urgency measure to take effect immediately upon its adoption <br /> for the following reasons: <br /> . To protect the safety of all participants at the City's in-line skate park, skateboard <br /> park and BMX facility by expressly requiring the use of helmets that are properly <br /> fitted and fastened and that meet the standards specified in section 21212(a) of the <br /> California Vehicle Code; <br /> . To provide the Police Department with the express authority to enforce the helmet <br /> requirement at the in-line skate park and BMX facility; and <br /> . To provide express notice to the public that helmets are required at the City's in- <br /> line skate park, skateboard park and BMX facility. <br />INTRODUCED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting ofthe City Council of City of Pleasant on on <br /> by the following vote: <br />AYES: Councilmembers - <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br />ABSTAIN: <br /> JENNIFER HOSTERMAN, MAYOR <br />Ordinance No. 2 <br /> - <br />Amending Pleasanton Municipal Code Chapter 13.08 <br />
