LEASA TO <br />City Council <br />Staff Report <br />September 20, 2005 <br />Livermore- Pleasanton Fire Deparment <br />SUBJECT: Operational Area Agreement Renewal <br />STAFF <br />RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that, by resolution, the City Council <br />renew the Operational Area Agreement. <br />SUMMARY: The Operational Area Agreement establishes the participation of the <br />City of Pleasanton in the Alameda County Operational Area <br />Emergency Management Organization. This agreement was <br />approved by the Alameda County Board of Supervisors on February <br />15, 2005, and is a renewal of the last Operational Area Agreement, <br />adopted by the Pleasanton City Council on January 24, 1995. <br />The Operational Area Agreement establishes a partnership between <br />the County of Alameda and participating cities, special districts, and <br />other public benefit non- profit organizations for exchanging disaster <br />intelligence, mutual aid requests, and resource requests in <br />emergencies. It also allows for cooperative trainings and exercises. <br />No monetary compensation is required of participants in the <br />Alameda County Operational Area Emergency Management <br />Organization, <br />Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council: <br />BACKGROUND <br />As a result of the 1991 East Bay Hills firestorm, State Senator Nicholas Pettis sputsoied <br />legislation that establishes a standardized emergency management system, or SUMS„ ih <br />California.
