E1 Charro Road Extension <br /> <br />The 1996 General Plan roadway network assumed that between the years 2005 and 2010 <br />E1 Charro Road would be widened and extended to six lanes between 1-580 and <br />Stoneridge Drive and four lanes from Stoneridge Drive to Stanley Boulevard. Dublin is <br />currently in the process of widening the 1-580 interchange at E1 Charro / Fallon Road to <br />provide a 4-lane overpass, 3-lane wide oft-ramps, loop on-ramps, and two traffic signal- <br />controlled intersections. The segment between 1-580 and Jack London is assumed in all <br />alternatives. In Alternative A it connects as a public street only to Jack London. In <br />Alternatives A, B, and C it is extended from Jack London to Stanley. <br /> <br />The El Charro Road extension would be primarily used by new traffic emanating from its <br />adjoining new land uses (Staples Ranch, Hanson, Kie-Wit). It also forms a new north- <br />south connector which provides access to Jack London (and Stoneridge if extended) and <br />Stanley east-west routes and, thus, would attract regional cut-through traffic. Users of <br />this extension are heavily influenced by potential connections to Stoneridge Drive and <br />Busch Road (the latter is assumed in both the Alternative B and C model runs). <br /> <br />The various model runs to date show widespread traffic effects throughout the City due to <br />the E1 Charro extension and how it may or may not be connected to local streets. There <br />have been a number of suggestions for how E1 Charro might be connected, or not, to <br />other streets. These include: <br /> · No direct connection to Stoneridge Drive <br /> · Deleting the segment lying between Lakes H and I <br /> · No connection to Busch Road <br /> · Various combinations of the deleted segments listed above. <br />These alternatives could be analyzed for their individual impacts. However, staff notes <br />that the East Side area will have significant land use alternatives studied as well, and staff <br />believes it is more fruitful to review the E1 Charro extension issues and additional street <br />modifications in conjunction with various land use alternatives in the East Side area. <br /> <br />West Las Positas Interchange <br /> <br />The 1996 General Plan roadway network assumed the construction of a new interchange <br />along 1-680 at West Las Positas Boulevard between the years 2005 and 2010. The new <br />interchange included the widening of the overpass to 4-lanes and the construction of two <br />traffic signal-controlled "T" intersections where the freeway on - and off-ramps <br />intersected West Las Positas Boulevard. This interchange is included in Alternative C, <br />but with ramp-metering. No 1-680 auxiliary lanes were assumed in Alternative C. <br /> <br />Traffic using a West Las Positas interchange would have local trip ends from all over the <br />City, but most trips are concentrated in the residential neighborhoods immediately to the <br />west; in the Val Vista, Del Prado, and Pleasanton Valley neighborhoods; and the <br />Hacienda business park. Regional cut-through traffic would also find this an option for <br />east-west routes. <br /> <br /> <br />
