THE CITY OF 4N <br />l L£ AS&NTON, CityCouncil <br /> Staff Report <br /> <br /> August 16, 2005 <br /> Public Works Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, REVIEW OF <br /> BIDS, AND AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTS FOR <br /> RESURFACING OF VARIOUS CITY STREETS, <br /> PROJECT NO. 045003RS AND SLURRY SEALING OF VARIOUS <br /> CITY STREETS, PROJECT NO. 045004 <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br /> Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action at the <br /> meeting of August 16, 2005: <br /> <br /> 1. Approve the plans and specifications for the subject projects. <br /> <br /> 2. Review the bids received and award the construction contract for <br /> Project No. 045003RS to O'Grady Paving and Grading, Inc. of <br /> Mountain View, California, for a low bid amoum of $778,985 and for <br /> Project No. 045004, to Valley Slurry Seal Company of Sacramento, <br /> for a low bid amount of $224,985.41. <br /> <br /> 3. Authorize the Director of Public Work to approve and execute contract <br /> change orders for a contingency amount not to exceed 20% of the <br /> contract amount for necessary related project work for Project No.'s <br /> 045003RS and 045004. <br /> <br /> 4. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the above contracts with <br /> O'Grady Paving and Grading, Inc. and Valley Slurry Seal Company. <br /> <br /> 5. Authorize the City Manager to transfer $60,000 from CIP No. 035007 <br /> (Annual Traffic Button and Line Marker Installation) and $70,000 <br /> <br /> SR:05:217 <br /> Page 1 of 6 <br /> <br /> <br />
