Ted Crowton, 6013 Acadia Court, noted that he lived across the street from the Church and
originally supported the Church. He does not support the expansion at this time and did not have
good experiences dealing with the Church. He objected to the amount of parking expansion.

Steve Yuffa, 4979 Dolores Drive, spoke in support of this application and noted that he was not a
member of this congregation. He noted that he was the scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 908,
which is sponsored by St. Clare's. The troop, which has 102 members, meets at Harte Middle
School instead of its sponsor's location due to lack of space.

Carl Pretzel, 3633 Glacier Court, spoke in opposition to this item and submitted a letter with his
comments. He expressed concern that if Phase I were approved, it would lock in the rest of the
expansion and would be harmful to the community. He believed that this project violated the
General Plan by not maintaining the local character of the neighborhood. He was very
concerned about traffic and noise. He objected to the bright orange contractor's fence at the
daycare site remaining on the site after the work had been completed. He did not believe that
parks should be noise buffers but areas of serenity. He expressed that the Church should not
have sold the land to the Masons and that it could have been used now.

Sharon K. Wilson, 6013 Amadia Court, noted that she lived across the street from the Church
and opposed any expansion to this Church. She did not believe the congregation was large
enough during regular services to justify the expansion. She believed the Church should use the
current facilities for its activities.

Shari Baugh, a Pleasanton resident, noted that she lived near the proposed Phase 2 site and was
strongly opposed to this proposed project. She expressed concern about heavier traffic and was
worried about her toddler's safety.

Mr. Willmore wished to address the neighbors' comments and noted that they looked very
carefully at placing a worship space in the north area but rejected it. They wished to have
visibility to the community, and the worship space near Hopyard Road would provide that. The
new worship space would be out of character on the north side, near the neighborhood, and the
building height would be a problem there. They were very concerned about noise and did not
wish to impact the neighbors' homes.

THE PUBLIC HEARING WAS CLOSED.

in response to an inquiry by Commissioner Roberts about the success of Del Valle Community
Church's use of parking attendants, Ms. Decker noted that the mitigation had been successful;
that mitigation was directly related to encourage on-site parking to ease parking on the street.

Chairperson Maas questioned if the future parking would be a pervious surface. Ms. Decker
responded that it was one design solution that would be evaluated at the time that phase would
come in for review as a separate application.

In response to an inquiry by Chairperson Maas whether the parking lot could be cordoned off
when not in use at night, Ms. Decker noted that conversation had not been held with the
applicant. She noted that it may be closed-off at night to avoid disturbing the neighbors;

EXCERPTS: PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES, May 1 l, 2005 Page 3 of 5
