pL£AS&NTON c,,co .d,
o Staff Report
July 19, 2005
City Manager

SUBJECT: Review and Consideration of a Resolution Supporting the
Approval of Creekside Memorial Park, a New Cemetery at
7000 Camino Tassajara to Serve the Greater Tri-Valley
Communities

STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Adopt resolution.

Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council:

BACKGROUND

In February of 2003, the Tri-Valley Council recommended the formation of a Tri-Valley
Cemetery Committee to discuss regional cemetery needs. The five Tri-Valley cities
appointed representatives to the committee who participated in a series of meetings to
discuss the cemetery space needs of their respective jurisdictions and the region as a
whole.

The work of the Committee resulted in a recommendation to support a proposal by Corrie
Development for a regional cemetery off of Camino Tassajara near the Contra
Costa/Alameda County line. In late 2004, Corrie Development presented its concept to
the Tri-Valley Council, which, in turn, recommended that each of the five Tri-Valley City
Councils consider adopting a resolution of support for the 216-acre+ cemetery project.
As the proposed cemetery is located in unincorporated Contra Costa County, project
approval rests with Contra Costa County.

Corrie development will provide the Council with an updated presentation describing the
proposed cemetery project and request the Council's support for the project.
SR:05:182
