THE CITY OF <br /> <br /> City Council <br /> Staff Report <br /> July 19, 2005 <br /> City Manager <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Appointments to the WHEELS AccessibLe Advisory Committee <br />SUMMARY: The Council is asked to ratify the Mayor's appointments. <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council: <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Wheels Accessible Advisory Committee (WAAC) was formed by the kivermore- <br />Amador Valley Transit Authority (LAVTA) to deal with disabled access issues on WHEELS <br />buses. Recently, LAVTA advised the City (letter attached) about upcoming vacancies on <br />the WAAC. <br />Pleasanton is represented by two members and one alternate on this Committee. <br />Members and alternates must be both disabled and capable of travelling to monthly <br />meetings. LAVTA advertises the vacancies; member jurisdictions are asked to select <br />representatives from the pool of applicants. For this round of vacancies, applications were <br />due to LAVTA by May 20, 2005. No applications were received for the advertised <br />vacancies of one Pleasanton representative and one alternate member.
