City of Pleasanton, CA - City Council Minutes Page 4 of 5 <br /> <br />of the Train Station a viable option that included adequate parking. <br /> <br />No formal action was taken by Council with regard to the ACE Train Station. <br /> <br />It was moved by Mayor Hosterman, seconded by Mr. Brozosky, to provide an <br />alternative design concept to locate the Cultural Arts Center in the northeast corner of <br />the Bernal property to include eight multi-use sports fields. <br /> <br />Mr. Sullivan said he would support the motion if it did not include the placement of the <br />outdoor amphitheater adjacent to the neighbors. <br /> <br />Mayor Hosterman shared Mr. Sullivan's concerns about the placement of the Amphitheater. <br />She would like Council to have the opportunity to discuss this issue separately. She wanted <br />to give staff the opportunity to prepare a design concept without having to deal with this <br />particular issue. <br /> <br />Mr. Sullivan said he would not support the motion as it takes the three site plan alternatives <br />that Council eliminated and moves the indoor portion of the Cultural Arts Center to the <br />northeast comer while leaving the outdoor amphitheater in the same location. <br /> <br />Mr. Brozosky asked if staff needed additional direction pertaining to the outdoor <br />amphitheater, as it would change the layout of the sports fields. <br /> <br />Mr. Fialho suggested that Council take action on the motion as previously made by Mayor <br />Hosterman. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was taken was follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers -Brozosky, McGovern, Sullivan, and <br />Mayor Hosterman <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br />It was moved by Mr. Sullivan to eliminate the outdoor amphitheater from the 45-acre <br />location where the sports fields are currently planned to be located. <br /> <br />Mayor Hosterman asked what would happen if Council were to discover that there is an <br />opportunity to locate the outdoor amphitheater in this area in such a way that it would not <br />interfere with the quality of life of the existing neighbors? <br /> <br />Mr. Sullivan said he would be willing to consider a concept plan that places the outdoor <br />amphitheater near the train station. He would not support a concept plan that placed the <br />outdoor amphitheater anywhere within the western fringe of the Community Park. <br /> <br />The motion died due to lack of a second. <br /> <br />Mr. Sullivan believed Council was responding to the arts and sports community but not to <br />the neighboring residents. <br /> <br />Ms. McGovem believed it would be appropriate to entertain a motion to direct staff to <br /> <br />http://www, ci.pleasanton.ca, us/archive/ccminutes050512.html 6/9/2005 <br /> <br /> <br />
