City of Pleasanton, CA - City Council Minutes Page 2 of 5

D, and the possibility of a motion to provide alternative design concepts locating the
Cultural Arts Center in the northeast comer of the Bemal property.

Mr. Sullivan said he supported the motion. Placing the Cultural Arts Center in the open
space between the sports fields and the neighborhood was not an alternative that anyone
liked, including the cultural arts community.

Mr. Brozosky pointed out that the Cultural Arts community preferred the northeast comer as
the preferred location for the Cultural Arts Center. If this was not possible, they wanted the
Cultural Arts Center to be located on Bernal next to the freeway.

The roll call vote was taken was follows:
AYES: Councilmembers -McGovern, Sullivan, and Mayor Hosterman
NOES: Couneilmember Brozosky
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

Mayor Hosterman said she would entertain a motion to combine Site Plan Alternatives A
and D for the Bemal Phase II Specific Plan area.

Mr. Sullivan pointed out that Alternative A included the ACE Train Station and a Youth
Club. Alternative D does not include the ACE Train Station, but does include a youth
club/teen center.

Ms. McGovem preferred Alternative D as the preferred option, as the youth club/teen center
would be integrated with the sports fields and in close proximity to the Cultural Arts Center.
She suggested moving the youth club/teen center to the 800-foot setback location for lighted
baseball fields.

Mr. Brozosky believed Council was considering combining the youth club and teen center.
He asked staff for clarification.

Mr. Fialho believed Council had discussed combining the youth club and teen center.

It was moved by Mr. Brozosky, seconded by Ms. McGovern, to combine the Youth
Club/Teen Center.

Mr. Sullivan agreed with Ms. McGovem's suggestion of placing the Youth Club/Teen
Center in close proximity to the sports fields and the Cultural Arts Center.

The roll call vote was taken was follows:
AYES: Councilmembers -Brozosky, McGovern, Sullivan, and
Mayor Hosterman
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

It was moved by Ms. McGovern, seconded by Mr. Sullivan, to place the Youth
Club/Teen Center in close proximity to the sports fields and the Cultural Arts Center

http://www.ci.pleasanton.ca.us/archive/ccminutes050512.html 6/9/2005
