THE CITY OF <br /> <br />pL£AS&NTON <br /> <br />6H <br /> <br />City Council <br />Staff Report <br /> <br /> June 21, 2005 <br />Public Works Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF PREANNEXATION AGREEMENT AND <br />RATIFICATION OF APPROVAL FOR SEWER CONNECTION <br />(3469 BERNAL AVENUE, ARNOLD) <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action at the <br />meeting of June 21, 2005: <br /> <br />Ratify the approval for connection of the Arnold parcel located at 3469 <br />Bernal Avenue (APN 946-1708-008-00) to the City sanitary sewer <br />system, provided all connection work is done to the satisfaction of the <br />City Engineer and all costs are borne by the property owner, and the <br />proposed extension of City services is approved by LAFCo. <br /> <br />Approve the preannexation agreement between Arnold and the City of <br />Pleasanton, and authorize the City Manager to execute the agreement. <br /> <br />File an application with LAFCo for the extension of City services to <br />the Arnold parcel. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: <br /> <br />The Property owner of 3469 Bemal Avenue requested an emergency <br />connection to the City sewer system to serve her existing residence located <br />within the Remen Tract in unincorporated Alameda County. The existing <br />septic system serving this parcel had failed, resulting in sewage backing up <br />in the house. Under these circumstances, City staff allowed connection to <br />the City sewer system in order to remedy this immediate health hazard. <br />Alameda County, Department of Environmental Health, restricts repairs or <br />installation of septic systems when a sanitary sewer main is within 200 feet <br />of the property, as is the case in this situation. <br /> <br />SR:05:159 <br />Page 1 of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
