PLANNING COMMISSION CITY OF PLEASANTON

ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION NO. PC-91-13

RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF CASE GP-91-1, THE
APPLICATION OF JOSEPH MADDEN

WHEREAS, Joseph Madden has applied to amend the Land Use Element
designation of the General Plan from "Commercial and
Offices" to "High Density Residential," or to any other
land use designation deemed in the public interest of an
approximately 6 acre site located generally on the north
side of Stanley Boulevard approximately mid-way between
Rachael Place and Valley Avenue on the south side of the
Western Pacific Railroad right-of-way; and

WHEREAS, at its duly noticed public hearing of February 27, 1991,
the Planning commission recommended approval of a
proposed negative declaration for Case GP-91-1 after
considering all public testimony, relevant exhibits, and
recommendations of the city staff concerning this
proposal; and

WHEREAS, the General Plan Amendment from "Commercial and Offices"
to "High Density Residential" is logical from a land use
planning standpoint; residential use would be compatible
with surrounding uses and would provide additional market
support to Downtown businesses; the loss of commerical
land, although of concern, would not be substantial;
potential incompatibilities can be mitigated to
acceptable levels through site design and pose no greater
constrai ts to residential development than other
residentilaly zoned sites throughout Pleasanton; and
smaller infill sites, such as this, provide good
opportunities for adding to the City's housing supply
without disrupting the overall relationship of jobs and
housing contemplated in the General Plan.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON
RESOLVES THE FOLLOWING:

section 1. Recommends approval of the application of Joseph
Madden to amend the Land Use Element designation of the
General Plan from "Commercial and Offices" to "High
Density Residential," of an approximately 6 acre site
located generally on the north side of Stanley Boulevard
approximately mid-way between Rachael Place and Valley
Avenue on the south side of the Western Pacific Railroad
right-of-way.

section 2. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon
its passage and adoption.
