pL£ A$&NTON, CityCouncil <br /> Staff Report <br /> <br /> June 7, 2005 <br /> Public Works Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: APPROVE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS; REVIEW OF BIDS <br /> AND AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR ANNUAL <br /> TRAFFIC BUTTONS AND LINE MARKERS INSTALLATION, <br /> PROJECT NO. 035007 <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br /> Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action at the <br /> meeting of June 7, 2005: <br /> <br /> 1. Approve the plans and specifications for this project. <br /> <br /> 2. Review the bids received and award the contract for the subject <br /> project to Chrisp Company of Fremont for a low bid of $142,780. <br /> <br /> 3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the above contract. <br /> <br /> 4. Authorize the Director of Public Works to approve change orders <br /> up to the contingency amount of $28,536. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: Bids have been received for the subject project and staff is recommending <br /> award of the construction contract to the low bidder in the amount of <br /> $142,780. The subject project consists of removing existing pavement <br /> markers, traffic lines and traffic markers and furnishings and installing <br /> new thermoplastic markings, traffic lines and pavement markers, on City <br /> streets at various locations. Staff is recommending a 20% project <br /> contingency, as there are special hazardous material removal requirements <br /> for paints containing lead. <br /> <br /> SR:05:140 <br /> Page 1 of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
