Cynthia L. Bryant
925-895-2371

Alameda County Fair
2004-present
! am the current Poetry Coordinator for Alameda County Fair,
Pleasanton, California. During my first year at this position ! put
together a poetry reading of thirteen Bay Area poets that won a
first place award for Alameda County Fair from the Western Fair
Association. ! was also one of the readers at the event. T also
helped procure a poetry judge for the California Youth Building's
contest for kids this year.

As part of my duties as Poetry Coordinator for the fair, ! secure
two judges for the adult poetry contest every year. I am
expected to submit any changes and editions to the Fair
catalogue the winter before the next fair.

! also search out new places to let more poets know about the
opportunities to enter our contest as well as the chance to
perform before an audience.

T will be at the fair to accept the framed poetry for the contest,
check all the entry forms to make sure all the proper information
is included and answer any questions regarding the contest. !
am there when the judges do there work to help them with any
questions that may come up during the judging. After the
judges pick the winners and a number of other poems to hang
during the duration of the fair, the people who are not chosen to
have their poems hung are asked to pick up their works. :[ am
there along with one of the judges to talk to anyone wanting
information on how to improve their work.

! am there to help hang the poetry with the fine arts in a
pleasing manner to the eye and attend the Gala the night before
the fair opens where the fine arts and poetry are browsed and
purchased by people attending the party.

T will be working the fair every day and will be at the fair the day
after it closes for people to pick up their poetry.

! am planning poetry events for the 2005 Alameda County Fair
every day the fair runs; which will be June 24 through July 10 in
2005. Two events are scheduled every Friday, Saturday and
Sunday for the duration. The events are every kind of poetry
from performance poetry to cowboy poetry, from beat poetry to
Haiku.
