Commissioner Lutz strongly supports keeping the designation as a school site, feeling all the
schools in Pleasanton are over-crowded.

Chairman Wright noted that the consensus of the Commission is to keep the property
designated as a school site. Commissioner Hovingh does not feel it should be remanded to
the General Plan Steering Committee, however, the City Council may decide to do so.

Commi"~ioner Hovingh motioned, seconded by Commi""toner Barker, recommending to
City Council that the Del Prado surplus school property remain as a designated school
site.

ROLL CALL VOTE

AYES:
NOES:
ABSENT:
ABSTAIN:

Commissioners Barker, Hovingh, Lutz, McGuirk, and Chairman Wright
None
None
None

Chairman Wright advised Mr. McDonald that the second choice for land use would be
medium density residential PUD, thinking that use would be the most compatible use to the
neighbors.

Resolution No. PC-63 was entered recommending the Del Prado surplus school property
remain as a designated school site, as motioned.

.d. RZ-94-07. Citv of Pleasanton
Prezoning of the San Francisco Water Department Bernal Avenue property and a
portion of the Alameda County Transportation Corridor to the following Planned Unit
Development (PUD) designation:
PUD - Parks and Recreation/Public Health and Safety/Medium Density
Residential/High Density Residential/Public and Institutional (future
school)/Retail, Highway, and Service Commercial/Business and Professional
Offices/Public and Institutional/Transportation Corridor
The site is approximately 550 acres and is bounded by the Arroyo de la Laguna to the
west, Bernal A venue to the north, and the Alameda County Transportation Corridor to
the southeast. The proposed prezoning is preliminary to annexation. The Planning
Commission will also consider recommending approval of a Negative Declaration of
Enviroumental Impact prepared for the project.

Mr. Swift presented the staff report outlining a proposal to prezone the San Francisco Water
Department property. Prezoning is a required step by the Alameda County Local Agency
Formation Commission (LAFCO) to be done before it will undertake a review of a proposed
annexation. To that end, City Council directed staff to prepare an application to the LAFCO
for annexation and thus initiated the prezoning of this site.

Planning Commission Minutes

Page 14

November 9, 1994
