too fast. She thought that speed bumps should be used to slow traffi down. She also
thought that if the project does go in, that it should be lowered to fiv units.

Mrs. Walsh questioned Mr. Swift as to the price of the units, how th sales would be
handled, and what the qualifications would be for purchase of a horn. Mr. Swift stated that
the selling price has not yet been determined, and it also has not bee decided who will be
qualified to purchase the units. No decisions can be made until they ow whether there will
be five or seven units. He pointed out that this all must go before th City Council for final
approval. He further noted that City Council had established an affo dable housing program
with a Task Force Committee to pursue it. He stated there are diffe ent categories of
priorities that also must be dealt with for different buyers.

Robert Cordtz, 262 W. Angela, said he is a member of the Affordab e Housing Committee
and spoke in favor of the project. He felt that all the questions that s. Walsh had would be
answered in the near future.

Mr. Goldsworthy returned to the podium. He reiterated they concur with the Conditions of
Approval, but had no further comments at this time.

Commissioner Wright questioned Mr. Goldsworthy in regard to Ms. Walsh's concerns that
people in the proposed project would be able to look into her bedro window. Mr.
Goldsworthy pointed out on the plans that the nearest unit window ould be at least 140 ft.
from Ms. Walsh's house.

Commissioner Mahern asked further questions about the affordabilit of the project and how
it will be financed, etc.

Dick Howard, 7750 Country Lane, represented the Rotary Club. H stated the club is
attempting to address in a small way some of the affordable housing problems that Pleasanton
faces. They had hoped to do a service project with the City, some at like a housing
project that the Rotary Club in Oakland has done with their city. H stated that the City is
working with them and feel very strongly that it can be done. How ver, Mr. Howard said it
is not their intention to get into a controversy with the neighborh over a project and
hoped things could be worked out agreeably. He stated the selling rice will be determined
by the City.

In further response to questions, Mr. Howard stated that according zoning they could even
put nine units on the site, but felt that was definitely too dense. Th y thought by reducing
the nine to seven units it would allow for much more landscaping. r. Howard said the job
will be done by a regular contractor, Cliff Casterson, who was pres nt. In response to
Commissioner Wright's question, Mr. Howard said they will have t hire a construction
crew but that Rotary Club members will work as much as possible.

Planning Commission Minutes October l4, 1992

Page 5
