Even though she favored retail-only, sh would not vote against <br />the plan if the rest of the Commission favored it. She generally lik the plan, but would <br />oppose any more wood sidewalks. She liked Ms. Greer's idea of sing a campaign to <br />attract people downtown which should be started immediately and be an on-going process. <br />In regard to design, she is not in favor of a formal appearance for d wntown, but would like <br />a "warmer" look. She would not like a formal appearance at the mu eum, and felt that the <br />kiosks had a military appearance. <br /> <br />Mr. Iserson told the Commission they will have more downtown des' n plans to review in <br />several weeks. <br /> <br /> <br />Commissioner Wright suggested that the City consider making Divisi n Street a two-way <br />street during construction. In addition, he would favor directional si ns to various locations <br />or businesses during the construction period. <br /> <br />Mr. Iserson noted that staff feels it would be good to make Division treet a two-way street, <br />but it depends on consolidation of parking lots. He said they have s ke to Kolin Hardware <br />who feel they need the space for delivery trucks. Staff will continue to check out the matter. <br /> <br />It was the consensus of the Commission to keep the bank policy as it is at present, and felt <br />they were vital to downtown. <br /> <br />Chairman Hovingh favored a two-way street on Spring Street; leave t e lighting as it is <br />downtown. <br /> <br />Commissioner McGuirk asked if there will be a PR person lined up r downtown. Mr. <br />Iserson said they will have a person in the very near future working ith the merchants. <br />They will also have a construction manager working as a liaison pers n, along with Gail <br />Gilpin of the Transportation Department who has much experience in such issues. <br /> <br />In response to Chairman Hovingh's comments about downtown fees, r.
