<br />Frankie Lau, 3802 Kamp Drive, stated he is opposed to any modifica 'on for the application. <br />He is the new owner of the Dairy Bell in the Val Vista center and sai he was stunned as he <br />just heard about the possible modification tonight. He stated that as owner of a business <br />in the center he is strongly opposed to a change because he felt it wo Id hurt his business. <br />He said he employs 15 people who are mostly from Pleasanton, and e felt this would in <br />turn hurt their employment. <br /> <br />Chairman Hovingh asked Mr. Swift if the people in Val Vista center were notified of the <br />application tonight. Mr. Swift replied that all the tenants of the sho ing center may not <br />have been notified. However, the City had already spent over $2, in postage on notices <br />for this application. <br /> <br />Angelina Summers, 4750 Sutter Gate Avenue, said she is opposed the application because <br />of the traffic mitigation. She felt that if anything changed that traffi patterns would have to <br />be changed. She was also concerned about the already empty buildi gs in the Val Vista <br />center and felt that if Lucky were forced to leave the other tenants ould also have to go. <br />She felt that Prudential was gambling with the economy. She felt th t other people are also <br />gambling with the economy. She concluded by saying that she was pposed to the <br />Development Agreement. <br /> <br />Chris Owens returned to the podium. In regard to comments about rudential not paying for <br />mitigation measures for water and fire, Mr. Owens stated they have certainly paid or intend <br />r to pay all obligations from the NPlD assessment district of $187 mi lion. He noted that they <br />agreed to pay their share of mitigations and have indeed done so. e did not think there was <br />any breach of faith in regard to traffic or anything else in the light f tonight's request. On <br />the contrary, he thought it was in the best interests of Pleasanton to help keep the economy a <br />healthy one. He responded to Mr. Johnson's concerns about the po sible closing of the <br />Lucky store and referred to Condition 5 which should address that oncern. <br /> <br />Commissioner Finch expressed concern about the retail center and sked Mr. Owens if he <br />would consider any new conditions in regard to Site 14a if the Co mission should feel them <br />necessary. Mr. Owens said he would consider that, but could not ommit to something he <br />did not know about. <br /> <br /> <br />Chairman Hovingh asked Mr. Owens if either Gateway Square or rossroads is in <br />bankruptcy. Mr. Owens said the one on the north side of Stonerid e has been taken back. <br /> <br />Commissioner McGuirk asked Mr. Owens if he expects everything in Hacienda Business' <br />Park to be built out in 20 years. Mr. Owens agreed that is his ex tation. <br /> <br />THE PUBLIC HEARING WAS CLOSED. <br />Commissioner Wright stated that he felt that Prudential had pretty ell lived up to what their <br />initial agreement was.
