In further <br />response to Commissioner Mahem's concern that one-nighters mig t fill up the rooms and <br />then there would be no room for longer term residents, Mr, Kuch an thought that would be <br />"great. " <br /> <br />Commissioner Mahem questioned Mr, Kuchman about the need fo signage and an internally <br />illuminated sign. Mr. Kuchman reiterated that the residence hotels all have similar signage; <br />the nearest one is in San Jose. <br /> <br />Lawrence Lui, Harbor View Investment, Inc., 645 Harrison St., S Francisco, injected that <br />they have about 40 residence hotels in the U.S. <br /> <br />Commissioner Wright asked the applicant whether all the units are ne bedroom. He felt <br />that families might come who have children and may need two bed ooms. Mr. Lui replied <br />that some of the units are two-bedrooms. In addition, the living r m couch makes into a <br />bed; the units also have kitchens where cooking can be done. <br /> <br />Chairman Hovingh asked the height of the tallest building and the <br />of Foothill Road. Mr. Kuchman replied Building 1, a two-story s <br />building; the setback is about 80 ft. <br /> <br /> <br />tback to the south border <br />cture, is the tallest <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />Commissioner Horan noted that the City has some strict signage re ulations and wanted the <br />applicant to be aware and understand that the signage he is requesti g may not adhere to <br />those standards. He noted that the sign that Home Office advocates may not pass City <br />standards. Mr. Kuchman commented that the Design Review Boar informed him that if the <br />size of the letters are in conformance, it could be left up to staff's 'scretion. Commissioner <br />Horan indicated that this may not be adequate, and would prefer to the signage again. <br /> <br />Commissioner McGuirk questioned the applicant regarding Cable and the need for a <br />satellite dish. Mr. Kuchman replied they would have Cable TV, bu there should be no need <br />for a satellite dish and does not intend to install one. Commission McGuirk stressed that <br />he would not be in favor of a satellite dish, as they are always very difficult to screen. <br /> <br />Robert Cordtz, 262 W. Angela, stated that he is a member of the C nvention and Visitors <br />Bureau and also an owner of a Bed and Breakfast inn. He said he i not planning to speak <br />for or against the project. He noted that the letter from Barbara Hil man of the Convention <br />Bureau has not been addressed by that Board at this time. He noted it has always been the <br />plan for the Convention Bureau to have a facility available in Plea ton that will <br />accommodate a large number of people and thus, encourage conven ons and visitors to <br />Pleasanton.
