<br />Chairman Mahern stated that she had a telephone conversation wi Mr. Joe Callahan <br />regarding this application. Commissioner Michelotti stated she m t with Mr. Callahan. <br />Commissioners McGuirk and Wright advised that they spoke with Mr. Brad Hirst. <br /> <br />THE PUBLIC HEARING WAS OPENED. <br /> <br />Brad Hirst, 6280 W. Las Positas Blvd., represented the applicatio and stated that staff has <br />done a very comprehensive report. He noted that the case has n looked at several times; <br />the architectural team is available for questions if the Commission has any. If there were no <br />questions, he felt it was not necessary to go through a detailed d ription again. <br /> <br />Dick Olmsted, 77 Water Street, San Francisco, placed a renderin on the wall for review. <br />When first approached by the developer, they were asked to plan 9 units. They proceeded <br />with confidence and enthusiasm, but then l'l'.ali7ed they had opposi 'on from the staff and the <br />neighboring community to the plan. They were then directed to d another plan. He pointed <br />out how the plan has changed over a period of time. He said he It staff s points were <br />valid. As a result of continued opposition, they have finally gone from 52 units to the 46 <br />that are proposed tonight. He feels that by eliminating six more 1 ts and going down to 46 <br />units that they still have a viable plan and wish to further discuss' tonight. <br /> <br />Chairman Mahem asked Mr. Olmsted to point out the grading p . Mr. Olmsted pointed <br />this out on the rendering, noting that the two corners of the projec would be "lifted" and a <br />~ berm would be included. In front of this would be landscaping to further screen the <br />development. He further pointed out that portions of the soundw I were eliminated and felt <br />this should help much to make the project more acceptable. <br /> <br />Chairman Mahem discussed with Mr. Olmsted the area she descri ed as a "bowl." Mr. <br />Olmsted clarified this for her and noted that this should meet the uirements of the Fish <br />and Game Department. He noted that there would be roughly 8,3 yards of excess dirt that <br />would have to be dealt with. <br /> <br />Further discussion ensued as to how the soundwalls might be hand ed. <br /> <br />Bill Monsen, civil engineer, further discussed with Commissioner ovingh the matter of <br />what to do with the fill. Mr. Monsen noted this would all be don during construction. <br /> <br />Commissioner McGuirk asked if the current map shows the mitiga . on measures with the <br />entry on Sunol being 30 ft. farther west. Mr. Olmsted said that h had understood on <br />Monday that requirement had been suspended. Mr. Swift clarified that if a traffic signal is <br />installed at Arlington and Sunol, then the driveway does not need be moved 30 ft. but the <br />retaining wall entrance would still be there.
