ORDINANCE IV0. 186 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR T~IE PROTECTION OF T?D~ PUBLIC HEALTH, AND T~E EV-JkMINATION, REGISTRATION AND LICENSING OF PERSONS ENGAGED IN TE BUSIi~"ESS OF PLU~RBING, OR LABORING AT TE TRADE OF PLUMBING; REQUIRING A PERMIT FOR THE INSTALLATION OR ALTERATION OF PLU]XBING AlO DRAIN- AGE SYSTEMS; CREATING TEE OFFICE OF PLUMBING INSPECTOR AND A PLUMBER EXAiviINER, ~LND PRESCRIBING T!~IR DUTIES; DEFINING CERTAIN TEP~iS; ESTABLISHING L.iINI~TIM REGULATIONS FOR TL INSTALLATION, ALTERATION OR REPAIR OF PLUMBING AI;~ DRAINAGE SYSTEIi,~B AND THE INSPECTION Ti~REOF; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR ITS VIOLATION~ AND REPEALING ORDINANCE .NO. 76 OF THE TOWN OF PT.'~.'ASAI~TON AND ALL OTHER 0RDINAIqCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT tTEREWITH. The Council of the Town of Pleasanton do ordain as follows: SECTION l: That that certain document, three copies of which are on file 'in the Office of the Town Clerk of the Town of Pleasanton, marked and designated as "Standard Plumbing Code" draft- ed and sponsored by the Pacific Coast Plumbing Inspectors Associa- tion and containing fifty-seven printed pages, be and the same is hereby adopted as the Plumbing Code of the Town of pleasanton pro- viding for the protection of the public health, and the examination, registration and licensing of persons engaged in the business of plumbing, or laboring at the trade of plumbing; requiring a permit for the installation or alteration of plumbing and drainage systems; creating the office of plumbing inspector and plumber examiner, and prescribing their duties; defining certain terms; establishing minimum regulations for the installation, alteration or repair of plumbing and drainage systems and the inspection thereof; ._and providing penalties for the violation of such "Standard plumbing Code,,, on file in the office of the Town Clerk are hereby referred to, adopted and made a part hereof as if fully set out in this ordinance, excepting that Section 8 as appears on page 3 of said"Standard Plumbing Code" be not so adopted by this ordinance, and that Sections 3, 4, 5, 15 and 22 of said "Standard Plumbing Code" are adopted in the form and manner hereinafter in this ordinance particularly set forth. S~ECTION 2: That Section 3 of said "Standard plumbing Code,, as hereby adopted shall read as follows, to-wit: ,,S~ECTION 3: LICENSE REQUIRED. Before any person, firm or corporation shall Carry on or engage in the business~f plumbing in the Town of Pleasanton, he or it shall first procure a Master plumb- er's License from the Town Engineer so to do. No such License shall be transferable. "Every applicant for a Master Plumber,s License shall first file with-the Town Clerk an affidavit sworn to before a Notary Pub- lic or the Town Clerk, which affidavit shall state the name and ad- dress of such applicant and if such applicant be a partnership or firm, the names of the members thereof, and if a corporation, the names of at least three of the principal officers thereof, together with such other information as the Town E~gineerms~ consider necessary to carry out the intents and purposes of this Ordinance. '~Every applicant for a Master Plumber,s License shall furn- ish proof that he is the lawful possessor of a valid Plumber,s Certificate of Competency, or, if the applicant be a partnership, firm or corporation, some bona fide member or authorized agent there- of, who shall at all times be in actual charge of the applicant,s plumbing business.
