THE CITY OF ~ <br /> <br /> city Council <br /> Staff Report <br /> <br /> May 12, 2005 <br /> Planning Department <br /> Parks and Community Services Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Joint City Council/Parks and Recreation Commission Study Session <br /> Regarding Bernal Property and Bemal Community Park Site Plan <br /> Alternatives. <br /> <br />PURPOSE: For the Council to to accept public input and discuss with the Parks and <br /> Recreation Commission the five current site plan alternatives for the Bernal <br /> Phase II Specific Plan area and two site plan alternatives for Bernal <br /> Community Park, focusing on recreation related matters. <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br /> That the City Council: (1) receive public comments regarding the <br /> alternatives for the Bernal Phase I! Specific Plan and Bernal Community <br /> Park, (2) discuss pertinent recreational matters, including those outlined in <br /> this staff report, and (3) continue any formal action on the alternatives to the <br /> June 21, 2005 Council meeting. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: City staff and project consultants recently presented five site plan <br /> alternatives for the Bernal Property Phase II Specific Plan area and two <br /> alternatives for Bernal Community Park to various City commissions for <br /> input and recommendations. These alternatives were also presented to the <br /> community at a Town Hall meeting. The results of these meetings are <br /> summarized in this report for consideration by the Council at its upcoming <br /> Bernal Property study sessions. For tonight's meeting, the Council is being <br /> asked to discuss recreation matters that relate to these alternatives with the <br /> Parks and Recreation Commission. At a subsequent meeting, the Council <br /> would provide direction to staff as to how to proceed with preparing the <br /> updated Draft Phase II Specific Plan and Community Park plans. <br /> <br />SR 05:131 <br />Page 1 <br /> <br /> <br />
