 CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, ALAMEDA <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 05-019 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE REDEDICATION OF THE <br /> PLEASANTON ARCH SIGN <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Pleasanton arch sign on Main Street is a historic City landmark, installed in <br /> 1932 through the efforts of the Pleasanton Women's Club; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the sign is a recognized symbol of the community and is visually displayed in <br /> brochures, articles and films of Pleasanton; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on January 18, 2005, the City Council authorized a full renovation of the sign <br /> including the replacement of the internal electrical system, new neon tubing, <br /> repainting and upgrading/relocating the electrical panel and controls; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the renovation work, which did not alter the appearance or historic nature of <br /> the sign structure or the sign plates, was completed on March 14, 2005; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council acknowledges that the renovated sign did not alter the original <br /> 1932 sign and wishes to commend the key members of the project team for <br /> restoring and preserving this landmark for ourselves and future generations. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a commemorative plaque will be placed at the site to mark this renovation; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The renovation work on the Pleasanton arch sign has been completed. <br /> <br />Section 2: The City Council hereby rededicates the Pleasanton arch sign to the <br /> community effective this day. <br /> <br />Section 3: The City Council hereby commends those involved with the renovation <br /> project. <br /> <br />Section 4: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and <br /> adoption. <br /> <br /> <br />
