CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON ALAMEDA COUNTY, ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 05-019 RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE REDEDICATION OF THE PLEASANTON ARCH SIGN WHEREAS, the Pleasanton arch sign on Main Street is a historic City landmark, installed in 1932 through the efforts of the Pleasanton Women's Club; and WHEREAS, the sign is a recognized symbol of the community and is visually displayed in brochures, articles and films of Pleasanton; and WHEREAS, on January 18, 2005, the City Council authorized a full renovation of the sign including the replacement of the internal electrical system, new neon tubing, repainting and upgrading/relocating the electrical panel and controls; and WHEREAS, the renovation work, which did not alter the appearance or historic nature of the sign structure or the sign plates, was completed on March 14, 2005; and WHEREAS, the City Council acknowledges that the renovated sign did not alter the original 1932 sign and wishes to commend the key members of the project team for restoring and preserving this landmark for ourselves and future generations. WHEREAS, a commemorative plaque will be placed at the site to mark this renovation; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: The renovation work on the Pleasanton arch sign has been completed. Section 2: The City Council hereby rededicates the Pleasanton arch sign to the community effective this day. Section 3: The City Council hereby commends those involved with the renovation project. Section 4: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption.
