The taxes levied upon personal property for any <br /> current tax year, ~vhere the same is not secured by real estate, <br /> or where in the opinion of the ~ssessor said taxes ~re not a lien <br /> upon real property sufficient to secure payment of the taxes, shall <br /> <br /> be based upon the tax rate levied upon real property for the <br /> preceding tax year. ~ny such taxes may be equalized by the <br /> <br />~oard of Equalization of the Town of Pleasanton st its next regular <br />ueeting as a Board of Equalization following the first i..Tonday in <br />~arch in which any such taxes became due. <br /> <br />~8ection ~V. The ~!~ssessor may, ~fter' the first ~,~Xonday in ~IYar ch of <br />each year, collect the delinquent taxes due on personal property <br />except when real estate is liable therefor, by seizure and sale <br />of any personal property owned by the delinquent; the sale must be <br />at public auction and of a sufficient amount of the property to pay <br />the taxes and all costs of and fees for holding the sale. The sale <br />must be ~-,qade after one week's notice of the time and place thereof, <br />given by publication in a newspaper published in the Town or by <br />posting in three public places. <br /> <br />Section 38. For seizing and selling personal property for taxes, <br />the .~ssessor may charge in each case the sum of Three Dollars and <br />the cost of advertising the satire, if said personal property is <br />advertised, and in addition thereto the same mileage and keeper's <br />fees as is allowed by law to constables v~hen seizing and occupying <br />property subject to execration under attachment. <br /> <br />Section 39. .¼ny ta~es, percentages, or costs erroneousl~ collected <br />may, by order of the To~ Council, be refunded by the Treasurer. <br /> <br /> -19 - <br /> <br /> <br />
