pL£ AS&NTON CityCouncil <br /> Staff Report <br /> <br /> April 5, 2005 <br /> Public Works Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS FOR <br /> RESURFACING OF VARIOUS CITY STREETS, PROJECT NO. <br /> 035003RS <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br /> Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action at the <br /> meeting of April 5, 2005: <br /> <br /> 1. Accept the improvements for the subject project. <br /> <br /> 2. Authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion for the subject <br /> project. <br /> <br /> 3. Authorize final payment to O'Grady Paving Inc. in the amount of <br /> $1,954.86. <br /> <br /> 4. Authorize payment of retention in the amount of $46,278.14 to <br /> O'Grady Paving Inc. thirty days after filing the Notice of Completion. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: Construction of the subject project is complete and is ready for <br /> acceptance. The objective of this project is to keep streets in a safe and <br /> smooth riding condition by overlaying the existing street surface with a <br /> new layer of asphalt concrete. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />On September 7, 2004, the Council awarded the construction contract for the subject project <br />to the lowest bidder, O'Grady Paving in the amount of $925,139.70.
