- Commissioner Maas complimented Mr. Huff on the remodel of the restrooms. Mr. Huff <br />described the outdoor bar azea and planters, which would retain the original landscaping <br />motif along the street. He displayed the site plan and described the exterior lighting plan. <br />Susan Garcia, applicant, noted that they were a thriving, successful business, thanks to <br />the community. She noted that she and her husband intended to improve the building <br />within the context of their business. She noted that the flavor of authentic Mexican <br />architecture and design would be reflected within the context of Victorian architecture <br />and that it would be compatible with the Downtown area. <br />THE PUBLIC HEARING WAS CLOSED. <br />Commissioner Arkin noted that the building was a V ictorian in Downtown, and he did <br />not want it to look Mexican. <br />Chairperson Roberts noted that Victorians are ofren painted in vivid colors, such as the <br />example on First Street. She did not have any problems with the expansion and believed <br />that the setback would reduce the impact of the colors. She noted that the porch had been <br />added to in the past. She did not believe that the lighting could be installed on the current <br />fence. <br />Commissioner Arkin moved to approve PDR-357 as conditioned in the staff report <br />with the following modifications: <br />I. The intensity of lights shall be dimmable and approved by the Planning <br />Director; <br />2. The fence style will remain the same as the current style; and <br />3.
