Commissioner Fox supported the recommendation of staff to redesign the bridge and felt
that the City should not try to match the existing bridge since it would involve spending
too much City funds.
Commissioner Sullivan commented that the City should try to enforce the original
agreement, but he did not want the City to have the City pick up a huge shortfall. He
stated that little or no City money should be spent. He also expressed concern with
trying to make the bridge identical to the existing bridge and stated that another
traditional bridge design might be preferable.
Commissioner Arkin moved to recommend that the City Council pursue options
that comply as close as possible to the original agreement, with the City providing
zero to minimum funds to build the bridge.
Commissioner Sullivan seconded the motion, proposing an amendment that if the
City Council decides to modify the plan as proposed by staff, the design be like the
Wixom bridge. Commissioner Arkin accepted the amendment.
ROLL CALL VOTE
AYES: Commissioners Arkin, and Sullivan.
NOES: Commissioner Fox.
ABSTAIN: None.
ABSENT: Commissioners Kameny, Maas, and Roberts.
The motion carried.
c.
