Ms. Nerland added that the Commission can also put on the next agenda whether or not it would <br />`- like to direct staff to speed up the process in the future by simply putting on the agenda, for <br />Commission consideration, the possible support or opposition of any land use and city-control <br />bills staff feels might be of interest to the Commission, as opposed to staff writing the <br />Commission a memorandum inquiring if it were interested in discussing these topics. She <br />indicated that the Commission could then decide if it wanted to take any action on the bills or <br />not. She advised that this direction to staff would require a majority vote of the Commission. <br />Shell Gas Station Canopies <br />Commissioner Maas inquired if the Commission could discuss the staff memorandum on the <br />Shell gas station canopies or if that needed to be agendized as well. <br />Ms. Nerland replied that this would need to be agendized if the Commission wanted to conduct a <br />discussion on the item. <br />Commissioner Fox inquired if, by law, the neighbors within a 1,000-foot radius would need to <br />noticed. <br />Ms. Nerland said no. She explained that this item is not a public hearing or design review item, <br />but rather, a request for Commission direction on the prioritization of gas station locations to <br />have the canopy colors changed. <br />8. MATTERS FOR COMMISSION'S REVIEW/ACTION <br />a. Future Planning Calendar <br />Chairperson Roberts reminded the Commissioners that next General Plan Update workshop is <br />scheduled for Thursday, Apri122"~; the topic for discussion is the East Side. She further advised <br />that the next Joint City Council-Planning Commission Traffic Workshop will beheld on <br />May 1 I`h; the regular Commission meetings on May 12`x' and 28`x'; and the Council Priorities <br />meeting, to which the Commissioners are invited, on Apri127`~' at 5:00 p.m. at the Operations <br />Service Center. <br />b. Actions of the City Council <br />Commissioner Kameny inquired when the Council would hear the item on the moratorium. <br />Ms. Nerland replied that it is tentatively scheduled for the May 4°' meeting.
