Mr. Gordon had been active in the design of several
amenities at Val Vista Community Park, and his family and friends have
proposed to provide the City with a gift of public art in his memory. The
artwork, a free-form tile mosaic bench, would be installed at the southern
end of Val Vista Community park. The colorful tile mosic surface
graphically displays the myriad of recreational activities that take place at
the park, and a number of elements and images that were very special to
Mr. Gordon. Public response to the proposal has been overwhelmingly
favorable, and the Civic Arts and Parks and Recreation commissions have
recommended that the Council accept this gift of public art on behalf of the
City.

SR 05:066
Page 1
