The City Council declared by resolution the above listed property a nuisance
that shall be abated.

Action Required: Abate the hazard by May 31, 2005, by removing the accumulation and growth of grass,
weeds and/or combustible trash in a manner approved by the Fire Department per the enclosed standards and
maintain the property in a fire safe condition.

A copy of the specific standards for weed abatement is enclosed. Hazards include, but are not limited to, dead
trees, dead shrubs, dry grass and trash as well as debris which would hamper Fire Department access to the site
should there be a fire.

Alternative: Submit a copy of a contract signed by a weed abatement contractor to the Fire Department
before May 09, 2005. The contract must have a specified completion date and the job must be completed by
June 6, 2005.

A hearing for objections by property owners will be held at the City Council meeting on April 5, 2005. By
resolution, the City Council ruled on the objections and directed the City contractor to abate weeds beginning
June 1, 2005. If the fire hazard has not been properly abated at the time the City contractor arrives at the
property, then the contractor will abate the hazard. The owner of the land will be assessed the cost of
abatement and disposal fees, plus an administrative assessment of one hundred percent (100%) of the
abatement costs. Such costs, if not paid by July 11, 2005, will be sent to the Alameda County Tax Assessor
for special assessment on the tax roll as a lien upon such land. A FINAL PROTEST HEARING DATE FOR
FEES ASSESSMENT IS SCHEDULED ON JULY 19~ 2005.

If you have questions, no longer own the property, the property has been developed or if you believe it has no
potential fire hazard, please call Fire Inspector Micahdale Brock at (925) 454-2333.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Stewart Gary
Fire Chief
