No stack of agricultural
products shall be stored closer to a building than a distance equal to at least the height of the
stack, but in no case less than twenty feet (20'). Combustible trash, rubbish or litter shall be
removed from the property.

Property abated by the owner or the owner's agent will be inspected by the Fire Department
when completed to assure compliance with City standards.

You may contact the Fire Inspector by calling (925) 454-2361.

WORK DEFNITIONS:
MOWING Must be done within 4 inches of the ground and is allowed only:
· Along streets where discing, rototilling or blade work would undermine
the road base or disturb the slope
· In areas not accessible to a disc, rototiller or blade
· As perimeter break for pastures with grazing animals
FIRE BREAKS Must be disced, rototilled, bladed or dozed with dirt turned over sufficiently to
allow a 50% minimum concentration of dirt in the worked area.
DISCINGand Dirt must be turned over sufficiently to allow for a 50% minimum
ROTOTILL1NG concentration of dirt in the worked area. It is possible that more than one
pass with the disc will be required to achieve this.
BLAD1NG and Must expose 75% minimum of clean dirt. Care should be taken not to disrupt
DOZING the existing grade. Sloughed off dirt and grass should be spread out and not
bermed up. Any piles created shall be hauled away.

RECOMMENDATION:
If possible, property should be disced prior to May 1 st in order to take advantage of the moisture that accumulates in
the soil during the winter. The increased moisture content will allow the disc to turn over the soil more easily and
efficiently on the first pass, thus requiring fewer passes and providing a more thorough job, which could result in a
reduction in abatement costs.

Weed Standards 2005 2
