<br /> <br />7. MATTERS INITIATED BY COMMISSION MEMBERS <br />a. Election of Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson <br /> <br />. Commissioner Wright commented that Vice Chairperson Barker is running for City Council and he <br />does not want her to state on her campaign literature that sbe is the Chairman of the Planning <br />Commission. Therefore, Commissioner Wright nominated Hal McGuirk as Chairperson and Jack <br />Dove as Vice Chairperson. Some discussion ensued regarding the logical progression to Chairperson <br />would be Ms. Barker since she served as Vice Chairperson. When asked her thoughts, Ms. Barker <br />expressed her desire to be the Chairperson. Commissioner Cooper and Chairman Lutz supported <br />Ms. Barker as Chairperson. <br /> <br />Chairman Lutz motioned, seconded by Commissioner Cooper, to nominate Debra Barker as <br />Chairperson of the Planning Commission. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL VOTE <br />AYES: Commissioners Barker, Cooper, and Chairman Lutz <br />NOES: Commissioner Wright <br />ABSENT: Commissioner McGuirk <br />ABSTAIN: Commissioner Dove <br /> <br />The motion carried. <br /> <br />Commissioner Wright motioned, seconded by Chairman Lutz, to nominate Jack Dove as Vice <br />Chairperson of the Planning Commission. <br /> <br />. ROLL CALL VOTE <br />AYES: Commissioners Barker, Cooper, Wright and Chairman Lutz <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Commissioner McGuirk <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br />The vote was unanimous. <br /> <br />Commissioner Cooper asked if the sewage plant had lost power over the weekend because of the <br />heavy odor. Mr. Higdon stated the City has no control/responsibility over odor unless it is brought <br />as a nuisance action. Mr. Beougher advised the sewage plant has backup generators. Staff advised <br />Commissioner Cooper to call directly for an explanation. <br /> <br />8. MATTERS FOR COMMISSION'S REVIEW <br />a.
