The Tri-Valley Business Council is requesting $25,000 from the City to help underwrite the cost
of the project. The data derived from the Phase I study, and the written compacts developed by
the action teams, will provide the foundational information needed to develop a business
retention and attraction program. The Economic Development Division is working with the
Business Council to expand on the study data to define a cluster analysis as part of the Division's
Economic Vitality Strategic Plan goals. To date, the Cities of Dublin, Livermore and San Ramon
have each contributed $25,000.

FISCAL IMPACT

The request is for $25,000 to help pay for the development of a regional economic study as the
first phase of the Preserving Prosperity Project. There are sufficient funds in the FY 2004-2005
General Fund to cover this request.

Respectfully Submitted,

Susan Rossi Nelson Fialho
conomic Development Manager Finance Director City Manager

SR:05:056
