NTON Co n . <br /> Staff Report <br /> February 15, 2005 <br /> City Maria§er <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Appointment to the WHEELS Accessible Advisory Committee <br />SUMMARY: The Council is asked to ratify the Mayor's appointment. <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council: <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />The WHEELS Accessible Advisory Committee (WAAC) is an advisory body to the Livermore <br />Amador Valley Transit Authority (LAVTA) on issues of accessibility for WHEELS bus riders. <br />WAAC is comprised of citizens appointed (1) by City Councils in LAVTA's jurisdiction and <br />(2) by the Alameda County Board of Supervisors. <br /> <br />Currently, Pleasanton has two representatives to WAAC, Jim Willows and Herb Clayton. The <br />Pleasanton alternate seat is currently vacant. <br /> <br />The Mayor has chosen Katherine Auger, a registered client of the Pleasanton Paratransit Service <br />(PPS) and Wheels' Dial-A-Ride program, to be appointed to the alternate seat. Ms. Auger has <br />served on the Pleasafiton Paratransit Advisory Committee for seven years. The Mayor feels Ms. <br />Auger's personal experience and commitment to improving services for all PPS clients would be <br />an asset to WAAC. <br /> <br />Ms. Auger's alternate term would run from date of Council ratification to June 30, 2005. <br /> <br />The Council is asked to ratify the Mayor's appointment. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />None. <br /> <br />R~d, <br />City Manager <br /> <br />SR:05:060 <br /> <br /> <br />
