.

.

.

7. MATTERS INITIATED BY COMMISSION MEMBERS

a.

Design Review Committee Survey Results

This item was continued to the September 10, 1997, meeting.

Commissioner Lutz asked about the red roof on the church located at the I-580/I-680 interchange.
Mr. Iserson noted that it has always been red, but that it may have been repainted recently.

Commissioner Lutz commented that with the opening of the Round Table Pizza in the former savings
and loan building on Main Street, the parking which was previously available in this location has been
minimized and that the impact of the lack of parking may be felt by the Downtown merchants. Mr.
Iserson advised that this situation has been recognized by staff and that future impacts may result
because this area has been designated as a possible location for a town square. However, there has
been a second parking lot constructed recently in the Alameda County Transportation Corridor, and
staff intends to study the matter further in connection with Downtown parks and trails and the use of
the Corridor.

Commissioner Dove noted that he has been working with a number of people with regard to the
Downtown parking issues.

Commissioner Dove asked about the trellis around the eating area at the building located on the
southwest corner of Stoneridge and Willow. Mr. Iserson stated that he believes this is the Britannia
building, and that the City Council's approval included a condition that an outdoor eating area be
provided. He will verify this.

In response to Commissioner Dove's question as to how the City insures that landscaping required
by conditions of approval are maintained, Mr. Iserson advised that a landscape maintenance agreement
is a requirement projects and that if the landscaping is not maintained, it becomes a Code
Enforcement matter. Commissioner Dove advised that there are some trees missing at the Tri-Valley
Herald building.

In response to a question from Commissioner Kumaran, Mr. Iserson advised that traffic counts are
prepared annually. He noted that the City is within the acceptable levels of service.

8. MATTERS FOR COMMISSION'S REVIEW

a. Future Planninl!
