Valley/Bernal Avenue /ntersection, terminating at the PG&E electrical <br /> substation, for a total length of approximately 1,400 linear feet. <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council: <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />On August 5, 2003 the City Council awarded a contract to the lowest bidder, Top Grade <br />Construction, for the construction of street widening improvements to Stanley Boulevard in <br />the vicinity of the Valley/Bernal Avenue intersection. The project, as described below, has <br />since been completed and is ready for acceptance. <br /> <br />The project consisted of the widening of the south side of Stanley Boulevard by 18 feet with <br />installation of sidewalks, landscaping improvements, and traffic signal modifications. The <br />improvements will provide two left-turn pocket lanes, two through lanes and one shared <br />through/right lane on Stanley Boulevard, eastbound. In addition, the widening will <br />accommodate a triple left movement from Valley Avenue onto Stanley Boulevard, eastbound. <br /> <br />BUDGET <br /> <br />The f'mal project budget summary is presented as follows: <br /> <br />Original Construction Contract $688,934 <br />Net Construction Change Orders (23) $93,893 <br />Engineering Consultant $95,495 <br />Preliminary and Construction Surveying Services $36,205 <br />Geotechnical Services $17,660 <br />PG&E pole relocation, electrical service $67,013 <br />Traffic Control Cabinet $15,088 <br />Traffic Cameras $22,480 <br />Traffic Signal Maintenance $10,882 <br />Fencing Company, Trumer Corp, Martinez Concrete $7,250 <br />Miscellaneous Expenses (reproduction) $1,500 <br />TOTAL $1,056,400 <br /> <br />Approved Funding $1,054,793 <br />Project Fund Deficit $1,607 <br /> <br />The subject project had an authorized construction contingency amount of $137,786, 20% of <br />the construction contract.
