We are so grateful that very few of the locations which have this
approval are actually open until 1 pm. This clearly defines Pleasanton as a family town which rolls up the carpet early. This is
part of what provides a feeling of security and charm for Pleasanton residents and visitors alike.

What greatly concerns us is that this is not going to simply be a restaurant. It's pdmary focus seems to be of a "Pub". This will
attract a completely different crowd to downtown for the late night drink. Our attention then goes to the "pub" or "bar" facilities
currently located on Main Street. If. what happens there follows suit with the Oddfellows bar, we think we can expect:

1. People standing outside on the sidewalk smoking.

Argument: This sidewalk is one of the main thoroughfares for people to get ~o
downtown. They park on St. Mary street and walk down to Main. This element
will not only directly the people who live nearby, but every person who comes to
visit, shop, or eat downtown.

Secondly, these peop e stand ng on the sidewalk may be intoxicated. This will
not promote a feeling of well being amongst the neighbors and the patrons of the
restaurant. We walk on the other side of the street with our 3 and 6 year old
sons as we pass the smokers standing Outside the bars on Main Street - for our
own safety.

2. Those who' are drunk walking to their cars which will mostly be parked on
residential streets.

Argument: There is not enough parking provided on the location to acoomodate
the number of customers they would need to justify staying open until 1 am.

Those of us who live near downtown expect to have our street parking disrupted
on Friday and Saturday nights. With a pub open less than 1/2 block from our
front door, it may be difficult seven nights of the week for us to find parking in
front of our own home.

Our 2 young children sleep in the bedroom closest to the street. We often have
people who are loud (seemingly intoxicated) walking to their cars late at night in
front of our house. Usually there is not enough time involved for the police to be
called and for them to respond before the people leave. This simply makes us
vulnerable.

12/3/2004
